It is done. It was an elegant solution even if I do say so myself. Self-congratulation is a conceit but I feel I may permitted it this time.

It was not easy and I garnered myself a ghastly headache from it but what more fitting solution could there be than leaving Echo and Gawain Prewett stranded in the Muggle world with no memory of who or what they are? If they love Muggles so much, let them live among the animals as one of them.

Perhaps they will one day be found or perhaps they will not. Maybe it would have been wiser to kill them but even if they are found, I would defy even the best healer to restore their memories. I believe I have ensured they are lost forever.

I have been shocked and saddened by the recent spate of violent deaths that have occurred in our midst. That such deaths can happen in our enlightened and civilised days is unthinkable and I offer my full support to the DMLE and the Ministry as they search for the perpetrators of these vile deeds.

While Mr Dobbs' articles were, on occasion, a touch inflammatory, a free and independent media is something to be cherished and held up as an example of how great our country truly is and I can only hope that the rest of the media will not allow Mr Dobbs' ghastly death to affect their ability to bring the news to us, the public. Their jobs are largely unheralded and unrewarded but they do a fine job and we would be truly lost in the dark without them.

It occurred to me this morning that we have failed to address one aspect in our recent discussion. While Mr Dobbs and the Aurors are indeed priorities, I do not wish to see the situation with these possible vigilantes fall by the wayside. While an irritant in comparison to the Aurors, ignoring them could well make them bold enough to strike against us.

I would like to propose actually confirming or denying their existence and doing what we can to discover the members and leaders. Needless to say, if this group does exist, neutralising them would be the next step.

I find the general hysteria regarding the identification cards to be absurd at best. Everyone shall have their information recorded so to claim that any one group in our community is being disadvantaged is ludicrous. To claim that they will be used for nefarious purposes is a slight on our Ministry that those who work there should find offensive. It implies that they are in the employ of these Death Eaters who have wreaked so much havoc on our community.

Do those spreading such mindless hysteria really think that purebloods such as Frank Longbottom or Edgar Bones or Bartemius Crouch or Douglas Cornfoot or Xavier Avery would use such information against people? Have they forgotten that only last month a pureblood was killed while being held in the Ministry for questioning?

These identification cards are being produced at great expense in terms of time and money for the benefit of the community. So that families will no longer have to wait and wonder when their loved ones do not return home. So that at least some of the Aurors' tasks are made just a little easier. Surely it is not difficult to carry a small piece of card with you? It is hardly an onerous responsibility on our parts to make life easier for many others.

So, the child died. She was a girl child and a Dark creature so I see nothing to mourn. Best that she died and rid her parents of what promised to be an endless and thankless burden. No doubt once the first shock of mourning passes, the parents will see the truth of that. A shame we must tolerate any werewolf in our community but I suppose it costs nothing to be magnanimous to the wretched.

It is good to see an event such as the Masquerade Ball on the social calendar. Social events are always welcome as the expressions of joy and delight from my wife and daughter have proven. However I trust that this will not be used as an excuse for crass and uncouth, even lewd, behaviour, especially on the part of the younger generation. An event such as the ball should be used for you to put your best foot forward and impress your fellow attendees. One can only hope that all attendees will enjoy themselves decorously on the night.
